This Is How It Works...

you're young until you're not, you love until you don't, you try until you can't, you laugh until you cry, you cry until you laugh, and everyone must breathe, until their dying breath

I am Lyndsey. I am 21. I'm shit at explaining things.
I like Regina Spektor, making chilli con carne, nostalgia, and those nights out that can only be pieced together by photos. I'm also a massive sap.

I’m beginning to get into the Christmas spirit. I’ve not been feeling it at all up until today. We don’t have any decorations up in the flat, and I barely had any presents to wrap. Mostly these days Christmas just makes me worry about shit like money, arguments etc. so I don’t get excited about it or enjoy it until it’s actually arrived and it’s going right and I’m at home with the family doing all the old childhood traditions.

One of those traditions is watching the Muppets Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve. We did this every year as far as I can remember, and only stopped doing it over the last few years because we no longer had a VCR and didn’t have it on DVD. Mum told me that dad had been going on about wanting it this year, so I’ve got him it on DVD for his Christmas, and if Santa deems he’s been behaving himself he’ll get to open it tonight so we can watch it. However, Facebook tells me it’s currently on tv, and if Les is sitting on his arse watching it I will not be best pleased. Not best pleased at all.

The brother is picking me up in a few hours and then we’re heading down to Prestwick to spend the next week or so with the parents. I’m looking forward to it. Christmas dinner and Boxing Day dinner are going to be a particular highlight, and then I’m going to my old work place’s Christmas night ‘in’, where the club members that I served for 2 years get behind the bar and serve the staff for a change. I’m looking forward to taking advantage of free booze and relishing that fact that I no longer work there whilst everyone else complains about the place. Then it’s Helen’s 21st/New Year party, then Hogmanay, although I haven’t decided what my plans are for that yet, but it will involve partying.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas Eve and Day :)
