This Is How It Works...

you're young until you're not, you love until you don't, you try until you can't, you laugh until you cry, you cry until you laugh, and everyone must breathe, until their dying breath

I am Lyndsey. I am 21. I'm shit at explaining things.
I like Regina Spektor, making chilli con carne, nostalgia, and those nights out that can only be pieced together by photos. I'm also a massive sap.

I’m still down in Prestwick at the parents’ house. I was supposed to go home yesterday but the return of Hurricane Bawbag meant I was stuck here another night. It’s been nice spending time with the family and having my meals cooked for me and my washing done, but there’s only so long I can handle being in the same vacinity as my parents these days.
I had to go to a big extended family gathering the other day, and as much as I was looking forward to seeing everyone, being the youngest of the generation and the only one without a partner or kids or a successful career meant it sucked. It wasn’t even 5 minutes before I was asked why I didn’t have a boyfriend yet, or what I’m going to do after I graduate. Um, sorry that I’m in no hurry and don’t have my life set out in a neat little plan?
Being in Prestwick this long hasn’t been all bad. The parents are dogsitting Shrek so I’ve been helping out with that. He’s a wonderful dog. We’ve all called him Ben by accident a few times, but I think everyone is enjoying having a dog around again. Ben was never allowed on the furniture, but Shrek has a habit of clambering up on the couch and falling asleep cuddled into you. I don’t have the heart to move him so there’s been quite a few occasions where I’ve ended up stuck on the couch for ages because he’s fallen alseep on me. I’m going to miss having him to cuddle into once I’m back home, but I will not miss him waking me up in the mornings by licking my face.
